Earth Blox
Powerful satellite data that is easily accessible.
Working with Nile HQ, the brief was set to tidy up and refine the UX of a complex system. The site was developed using the Material UI framework, and our task was to bring the site on-brand and suggest improvements to shorten the time to success for users.

Firstly, we reviewed existing product journeys and proposition sprint materials to identify and prioritise changes to UX/UI. Then I developed initial prototype UI concepts with input from the client team.
We conducted light-touch user research with them in order to design production quality visuals for prioritised screens/journeys at desktop screen size.
Working closely with the developers throughout the project, I finished up by creating a handover documentation for them and supported questions around implementation.

The Solution
After conducting an audit, journey mapping and four interviews with users we arrived at four key areas that needed solved.
1 / make it easier when I use Earth Blox for the first time
2 / make it easier to define my area of interest
3 / give me the ability to find help when I struggle
4 / make it easier for me to interpret outputs
Solutions were designed by adjusting any signposting, grouping elements by function, adding help contextually, configuring the default layout of panels by steps to success, adding descriptions to presets and giving system feedback.
Designing closely with the developers in order for them to be able to build directly from my work. The final solution catered to all user types by allowing for panels to be resized and the workspace adjusted to suit the needs and job to be done.
